Child and Family Clinician, Play Therapist

Introduce yourself!

Hi!  I’m Anita Baruah and I am a Child and Family Clinician, specifically, I am a Play Therapist! <3

Tell us something about yourself that we’d be surprised to learn.

I have just finished a year-long post-grad certificate in Play Therapy and I use that modality with children AND adults. All animals of all ages play! Ask me about how you can use play with your adult clients!

Do you have any advice for new team members?

Always keep learning. New research relevant to your job is published every single day.

Do you have any hobbies that you’d like to tell us about?

Just cuddling with my cat and watching Law & Order Special Victims Unit or reading a book.

Name someone here at Sound who has had a big impact on you

I’m so inspired by my young clients who have been abused and neglected by the parents and caregivers who are supposed to protect them. Working with these kids has helped me hone my skills in managing countertransference.

I am impressed by and respect every member of my team. But, in particular, Corey Cotton has been a great collaborator as we have delved into deep study about Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) and how to effectively treat it in adults, adolescents, and children.

What is your favorite thing about working at Sound?

My awesome clients and my amazing teammates!

Would you like to join the team? Sound is hiring!
