Studies show that the strongest risk factor for passing violent behavior from one generation to the next is witnessing domestic violence in the home. Through innovative approaches, Sound Mental Health offers programs to break that cycle by delivering confidential and safe mental health and trauma services to survivors of domestic violence.

Fifty percent of all mental health care dollars are spent on adults who were abused as children.

Services for the Elder Population

Depression affects 1 in 5 older people in the community and 2 in 5 in care homes.  Many in our older population have lived with mental  illness all their lives and need somewhere to turn as they enter their golden years.  The senior population in King County will reach nearly 25 percent by 2025.  Sound Mental Health’s services are tailored specifically to these men and women and will help them stay as healthy as possible through the natural process of aging.

Depression affects more than 6.5 million of the 36 million Americans who are 65 years or older.
