From its humble beginnings in 1984, NW Children’s Fund has grown into a seasoned, thoughtful and respected element of our region’s child welfare landscape, playing a significant role in our community’s efforts to improve the lives of at-risk children and fragile families.
NW Children’s Fund works to end the cycle of child abuse and neglect. NWCF is a public foundation that serves as a catalyst and vehicle for our community’s investment in its children and its future. NWCF’s work is carried out through two complementary programs:
- Grantmaking – NWCF’s grants support prevention, early intervention and treatment programs to heal abused children, strengthen fragile families and help at-risk-youth. Every grant applicant is carefully evaluated by NWCF Board members, including a site visit to see the programs in action. Since 1985, NWCF has distributed nearly $15M to 330+ area nonprofits.
- Educational Outreach and Convening – NWCF’s annual Forum brings together diverse players in the child welfare field to learn, discuss and connect in order to work toward community-level improvement in our approaches to preventing and responding to child maltreatment.
